It is Stupid Here

It’s been a strange, sticky, frustrating week here at IPF, Northern Division. The project I’m trying to get off my desk hates me and will not let me finish it. Thunder storms the last three nights have kept Fuzzy Roommate freaking out into the wee hours, but the humidity has yet to break. And teaching prep keeps getting in the way of the project-that-will-not-end. And let’s not forget about yet another mix-up with my pay (Why? Why always too low?!). In short and to sum up: it is stupid here.

Sartorially, I’m having issues with photos. “Issues” is code for “I’m positive these outfits are way better than pictures suggest.” This means that instead of changing clothes, there’s been a lot of craning, twisting, and adding of accessories to capture what I’m certain is really going on.
For example, the house-hunting ensemble (note: wear SLIP-ON SHOES next time):

Bag employed to fix (disguise) waist bunching. It’s too hot for a belt.
Red cotton embellished tank: Mexx
Cotton poppy skirt: Mac & Jac
Cotton & Leather bag: Esprit (You don’t want a close-up, do you? It’s a very basic bag.)
Nude platform wedges: Nine West (remixed)
Next up: the balancing series, brought to you by my inane efforts to offer a semi-rear view of the skinny pants without turning all the way around. A full-on rear view seems gauche in skinny pants (but not in an acid wash jean skirt, apparently). This series is also brought to you by my refusal to take more than 4 outfit shots in one go.

Embroidered cotton top: Bianca Nygard (via The Bay)
Cotton skinny pants: Mexx (remixed)
Bracelets: The Bay
Sequin espadrille wedges: Roman Tenza (bought with D-Med while visiting IPF, Eastern Division)
Screw it. This pose shall hence forth be known as
the “totally-intentional” (and thus not-at-all ridiculous)
Back Stretch ~

This weekend, I’m working on the project-that-will-not-end.
What up with you? And what are you wearing to do it?
(Also, don’t forget our upcoming surprise – or the WW Conference.)

  1. Oh yes, as you know, supremely stupid week here at IPF, Eastern Division too. I might have been seen by passing motorists YELLING in (not) my car while driving, not at other motorists but at myself and imagined douchy interlocutors. I am not good at calm.Sounds like everyone is having a stupid week. Why don't we take all of August off like the Europeans? Who's with me?

  2. I love the bag as decoy. I usually use a belt, my hand, or a child permanantly attached to my hip. I just got home from taking three toddlers to see KC and the Sunshine BandAnd I didn't have too bad of a week, but of course I am getting drunk anyway. LOL

  3. I'm always working on SOMETHING, so it's a way of life. Today I have on my attractive orange sleep-shirt (which was once a Florida Gators tee-shirt, thrifted, turned inside out so the logo doesn't shoe, neckband cut off, sleeves shortened, and made wearable by me) and paint-splotched jeans because I'm also painting some furniture, in between paragraphs.Your assessment that "things are stupid here" pretty much sums up life sometimes. School starts here a week from tomorrow.

  5. I also refuse to take more than 4 pictures. Sometimes the camera lies! Anyway, you look great, so there. I'm going to a friend's 50th birthday tonight and dammit, I've had a crap week due to the layoff thing, and I plan to look FREAKING FABULOUS.

  7. My week's been pretty stupid too. Here's hoping your weekend is better! I think your outfits look wonderful, even if you are having photo issues. I especially like the red ensemble. Not being an academic, I'm just looking forward to another weekend away from my cubicle. I spent today at the beach and am going on an architectural cruise along the Chicago River tomorrow. What to wear, however, is a good question…

  8. I feel like I'm swimming in projects that I need to get off my desk, but it's Friday evening so I'm going to drink some wine and watch some Veronica Mars on dvd. Good luck with the house hunting and the finishing up! We will get there!

  9. What's going on with the outfits? I think they're wonderful. My project that is never-ending is a messy office/crafting space/spare bedroom. I just dread going in there because it means I have to get rid of stuff. And I know it's important to get rid of stuff but ugh. Oh well, I guess I could have worse problems than having to get rid of stuff.

  10. Sometimes, when I am frustrated with a project, I feel frumpy and unattractive. These outfits look great to me, and I hope that you get your monster off your desk soon.So from what I can see, from the "totally intentional back stretch" photo, you arse is looking very presentable. Also, househunting? As in purchasing? Congrats and how adult (Blokey and I may get there someday, but it will involve an ungodly commute). I dig the colors and think it looks great (I don't see any bunching). This weekend, I will keep syllabussing and trying to chip away at my monster project too. Good luck with your househunting!

  11. Don't worry, the outfit post are getting through to us. We see the creative remixing and what's really going on in all it's awesomeness. Both of these outfits are good, really good. As to using props as a disguise, isn't that what they're are for? Yes, props and well cropped photos, that's what it's about. You show us the general idea of what's going on and we do the rest.Good luck with the project that does not end. Can you see the bright light yet? Enjoy a FOG or two (not three, I'm warning you). We are bday party, bbq, and dinner with friends bound this weekend. Yes, we are that popular. Well, at least this weekend we are.

  12. EK: Clothes get me through the crap. 'Hope your project ends soon.D-Med: I know. I need to push the table to the side and do the Wonder Woman in front of the white concrete wall already. But I'm too lazy.

  13. I know those pants look great on you because, seriously, how could they not?, but I would like to point out that the part of the BBQ is being played by the balcony railing this evening. Both of these outfits look super-fab on you in these photos so probably they are super-fab in real life too. Do you have to take your shoes off in other people's houses when you are hunting them (the houses, not the people)? Gross.
